All My Efforts Are Wasted—Why Won’t This Eldest Brother Follow the Script?

About this drama

Lu Zhizheng, a grassroots poverty alleviation cadre, travels through time unexpectedly during an inspection trip. He is transported into a rags-to-riches novel centered on the swapped genuine and fake heiress trope, trapped in the body of the foolish eldest brother Lu Zhizheng from the book. In the original plot, he dotes excessively on the fake heiress, which ultimately leads to the total ruin of the Lu family. Knowing how the original story unfolds, he resolves to rewrite the tragic fate and save his entire clan from annihilation.Right after his transmigration, he stumbles upon a scene where the fake heiress Lu Tiantian frames the real heiress Lu Shuyu—she claims Lu Shuyu pushed her down the stairs and tore up her admission letter. As the whole family berates and even intends to punish Lu Shuyu without any investigation, Lu Zhizheng steps in without hesitation. He demands surveillance footage to expose Lu Tiantian’s lies and publicly defends Lu Shuyu for the first time, breaking the fixed track of the original plot.
