Hopeless romantic

About this drama

Years ago, Holly was forced to abandon her son and flee due to debt. Her son was adopted by his stepfather and grew up to become a successful chairman. After finding his biological parents, he went to reconnect with them. Meanwhile, Leo wanted to pass on his brick factory to his son-in-law Charles, but when Charles accidentally kicked over a brick wall, Leo was struck while saving his daughter, and Charles was also injured in the process. Lily, their daughter, choosing to save her husband, left her injured father behind, which led to his death due to delayed medical care. Lily, who should have stayed by her father’s side to fulfill her filial duties, couldn’t learn of his death because she was involved in caring for her husband and her in-laws’ scheme to obtain a deposit. When Lily finally learned of her father’s death, she returned home, and Charles and his family tried to seize Leo's insurance money by forcing Charles to pretend to be suffering from kidney failure and seize his body. Lily, manipulated by her in-laws, turned against her mother, and Charles's family caused a scene at the wake, trying to take Leo's body. At that moment, Lucas, who had been searching for his true family, arrived just in time to stop them. Lucas blocked the family, and Lily and the Charles family continuously humiliated Lucas and his mother, Holly. However, Lucas and Holly, mother and son, recognized each other, and despite their humiliation and bullying, they persisted. Lily, under the influence of Charles's family, turned against her mother and eventually revealed the truth. Fearing that Lily would expose the mastermind, Charles's family tied them all up, preparing to silence them. As Lily was being whipped, Jason, guided by Secretary Jiang, arrived and saved them all. At Jason's birthday party, after Angela's plot failed, she orchestrated an attempt to poison Jason by putting poison in the wine Lucas had given him, hoping to kill Jason and stop him from declaring that all his inheritance would go to Lucas. Jason, having learned about the poison in the wine, pretended to be poisoned to test Lucas and find out the true culprit. After Jason pretended to die, Lucas's family became the target of everyone’s wrath. Angela and Charles continued to frame Lucas, who and his family endured ongoing bullying and humiliation. Finally, when the truth came to light, Jason stopped Lucas from being sent to the police and severely punished Angela and the others. In the end, Jason transferred all his inheritance to Lucas, and the Lucas family enjoyed a happy reunion.
