I Can Understand Animals, Every Creature in Town Is My Detective Partner

About this drama

Shen Xiaoli, a‑25‑year‑old graduate from an ordinary second‑tier university, struggles to make a living in a big city. Working as a junior lab technician at Baiyun Pharmaceutical’s experimental department, she endures endless overtime. Timid and reserved with no family connections, she is constantly exploited by the company. One early morning while working overtime, she suddenly hears the inner thoughts of Scar, a stray tabby she feeds, and King, a calico cat. From them she learns that A‑07, the firm’s flagship drug, has severe side‑effects that nearly killed test subject Li Shan. To cover up falsified data, bribery and illegal experiments, deputy director Zhou Heng picks the vulnerable Shen Xiaoli as his scapegoat. He forges her signature and sends people to plant counterfeit medicine and fabricated evidence inside her home. Horrified, Shen Xiaoli escapes early thanks to intelligence passed along by Scar and King. Back home, she finds her place ransacked and fake incriminatory materials planted. She reports to the police immediately. Yet when policewoman Yu Wan leads the investigation, all evidence points to her. Coerced by Zhou Heng, victim’s family member Wang Xiulan and new recruit Liu retract their statements. Shen Xiaoli becomes a murder suspect facing imminent imprisonment. She builds an intelligence network of stray cats across the city to gather clues and locates a USB drive holding the company’s full misconduct records, including lab audio recordings and original datasets. Seeing his scheme unravel, Zhou Heng sends thugs to ambush her and seize the evidence. Scar assembles an alliance of stray cats and a construction‑site guard dog to hold the attackers off, buying Shen Xiaoli time to deliver proof to the police station. Unknown to her, there is a mole inside the precinct: Wang Ge.
