Tang Blossom, Never Reaching Zhou

About this drama

Xiang Yuntang and Gu Zhousheng grew up together as childhood sweethearts. He once swore he would marry her. But the sudden bankruptcy of the Xiang family ended their romance. When Yuntang came of age, her mother fell critically ill. To pay for her mother's treatment, she made a deal with Grandma Gu and married into the Gu family — a contract that needed renewal every five years. By then, Gu Zhousheng had already fallen for Luo Qing. In his eyes, Yuntang's sudden marriage was nothing but a scheme to tear him apart from his true love. The five years of marriage became endless torment for Yuntang. She endured Zhousheng's coldness and Luo Qing's constant schemes. All her explanations and sincere feelings were ruthlessly dismissed. On the night before the five-year contract expired, Yuntang received news that her mother was dying. She begged Zhousheng to drive her to the hospital — but he left coldly to rush to Luo Qing's side. Because of this delay, Yuntang missed her mother's final breath. Her heart died completely. On the last day of the contract, Yuntang watched Luo Qing move freely into the Gu residence, even trying to take over her late mother's bedroom. Zhousheng's bias and humiliation only grew worse. Luo Qing deliberately triggered Yuntang's hereditary asthma and stole her rescue medication. Worse still, Zhousheng forced her to eat yam congee — knowing it would cause a fatal allergic reaction. Completely broken, Yuntang signed the divorce papers. She took her mother's ashes and left the Gu family without looking back. Zhousheng paid little attention. He foolishly thought it was just a ploy to make him chase her. Then he visited a cemetery in Jiangnan and saw Yuntang's mother's tombstone. He was horrified to realize every word she had said that night was true.
