The Grandmother's Second Chance: From Rejected to Revered

About this drama

Chen Huizhu was driven out of her home by her son Zhou Shan and daughter-in-law Zhang Li on her son’s wedding day. While wandering the streets, Chen Huizhu found an abandoned baby, Fu Zi’an, who was suffering from a high fever and near death. She decided to care for Fu Zi’an as her own grandson. Five years later, Chen Huizhu and Fu Zi’an were living a poor but happy life when Fu Zi’an was unexpectedly hit by a car and required surgery. Unable to afford the medical expenses, Chen Huizhu borrowed money from Zhou Shan and Zhang Li. However, Zhang Li forced her to donate a kidney in exchange. Chen Huizhu reluctantly agreed, but Zhang Li went back on her word. Zhou Shan, prioritizing his own future, ignored Chen Huizhu’s plight. At the critical moment, the Fu family arrived. The Fu family warmly welcomed Chen Huizhu and planned a recognition banquet in her honor. At the banquet, Chen Huizhu encountered Zhou Shan and Zhang Li, who were employees of the Fu Corporation. Zhang Li and others believed Chen Huizhu had no right to attend and tried to drive her away. Faced with humiliation, Chen Huizhu revealed her identity, but the crowd was skeptical. Zhang Li’s uncle, Liu Shi, brought news that Zhou Shan had successfully been promoted to general manager and denied Chen Huizhu was the matriarch. In an attempt to “make amends,” Zhang Li and others humiliated Chen Huizhu and forced Zhou Shan to forcibly remove her necklace. At the critical moment, the Fu family arrived at the banquet. Fu Sihai and others stood up for Chen Huizhu, humiliating Zhang Li’s family, and gifted Chen Huizhu 30% of the Fu Corporation’s shares. Liu Shi relayed this news to Fu Yinhuai, Fu Sihai’s godson overseas, who decided to return to the country. At the Fu villa, Fu Sihai and Fu Zi’an prepared a surprise to cheer up Chen Huizhu. Fu Sihai knelt on one knee, leading Chen Huizhu and Fu Zi’an to believe he was proposing, but it turned out he was suffering from leg pain. After being helped up, Fu Sihai presented flowers to Chen Huizhu, moving her deeply. He also invited square dance enthusiasts to fulfill Chen Huizhu’s long-held dream of dancing in the square. Fu Sihai took Chen Huizhu on a bicycle to a jewelry store, humiliating the store clerk. Chen Huizhu received a call from Zhou Shan falsely claiming that Zhou Bao was in trouble. She went alone, only to find that Liu Shi had instructed Zhou Shan’s family to seize her 30% shares. At the critical moment, Fu Sihai arrived to rescue her. Just as he was about to punish Zhou Shan and the others, Chen Huizhu was provoked by Zhou Shan’s words and fainted. Fu Sihai took her away. Fu Yinhuai entered, shocking Liu Shi and the others. Dissatisfied with Liu Shi’s actions, Fu Yinhuai had his subordinates take Liu Shi away and bribed Zhang Li’s family with wealth.
