The Star's Proposal

About this drama

"The ordinary-looking yet kind-hearted Li Fei musters up the courage to propose to his girlfriend of five years at a KTV, only to be humiliated by her and her friends. They mock his appearance, calling him an “ugly toad lusting after a swan’s flesh.” Heartbroken, Li Fei accidentally saves an old grandmother who was hit by a car. Grateful for his kindness, she casts a spell that devalues the attractiveness of every other man on earth by ten thousand times, making Li Fei the most handsome man in the world. His good deed is witnessed by top actress Song Bingbing, who is impressed by his character. Unaware of his new global status, Li Fei finds his rent waived by his landlord and is scouted by an entertainment company CEO, stumbling into the showbiz industry. Suddenly, he becomes the center of attention for women everywhere. While auditioning for a lead role and being bullied by other actors, Li Fei is rescued by Song Bingbing, who fiercely shuts down his detractors. Even his ex-girlfriend, who once looked down on him, now tries to win him back after seeing his astonishing looks. During the audition, Li Fei and Song Bingbing share an intimate scene, and he lands the male lead role effortlessly, shocking everyone who doubted him. He quickly becomes the target of envy for several male actors. At the movie premiere, Li Fei wears a mask to maintain an air of mystery. Jealous actors organize fans to disrupt the event and publicly shame him, but when the crowd sees his face beneath the mask, they are mesmerized. Overnight, Li Fei becomes a sensation. Relying on his looks, he easily impresses directors and stylists. However, he lacks acting skills. To improve, he joins an acting reality show. His rivals see this as a chance to sabotage him, but his innate kindness and courageous personality help him overcome every obstacle. He wins over the mentors, triumphs in the competition, and grows even more famous, while his enemies fade into obscurity. Through filming and the show, Song Bingbing gradually sees Li Fei’s true worth and falls for him. After winning the reality show and wrapping up the movie, Li Fei reaches the peak of his career—but just as he is about to propose to Song Bingbing, the spell wears off. He reverts to his original appearance. Yet, to his surprise, his career, friends, and love remain. Through it all, he has grown as a person and achieved a true counterattack."
