The Phoenix's Retribution: A Widow's Vengeance
Jiang Jianning, nine months pregnant, received photos from a private detective on her wedding anniversary with her husband, Gu Chen—images of him intimately embracing his first love, Shen Jiayi in his office, who was herself eight months pregnant. That night, when a drunken Gu Chen returned home, he dismissed Jianning’s accusations with the excuse that ""all successful men make mistakes,"" then flew into a rage and struck her. Pushed violently, Jianning fell against a table, her water breaking instantly. But when Gu Chen got a call that Shen Jiayi was bleeding and going into early labor, he coldly told Jianning to ""hold it in"" and rushed Shen Jiayi to the hospital instead. Abandoned and in agony, Jianning was left at the mercy of the Gu household. The maid, Zhang Ma, emboldened by Gu Chen’s indifference and Shen Jiayi’s scheming, refused to call for help and even enlisted others to drag Jianning back to her room. Later, Gu Chen sent Dr. Wang to forcibly administer labor-suppressing drugs, delaying her delivery. Shen Jiayi then impersonated Gu Chen, ordering Zhang Ma to use an extreme ""inversion"" method to prevent Jianning from giving birth—leaving her on the brink of unconsciousness and her baby in mortal danger. Just in time, Gu Chen’s mother, the formidable Madam Gu, arrived unexpectedly, halted the abuse, and rushed Jianning to the hospital. Though Jianning survived, her child did not. Devastated by loss and betrayal, Jianning awakened with a vengeance. Outwardly, she played the obedient wife, accepting Gu Chen’s expensive gifts and even agreeing to ""adopt"" Shen Jiayi’s child. Secretly, she allied with Song Jian, a protégé she’d once mentored, and disgruntled shareholders of Gu Corp who’d been cheated of dividends. With their help, she orchestrated a shareholder revolt, founded her own company, Qiyuan (Prayer), and swiftly rose in the industry. Then came her masterstroke: suspecting Gu Chen’s low sperm count, she investigated Shen Jiayi’s child and uncovered the truth—the baby was actually fathered by Shen’s lover, Zhao Xuan. At a pivotal financial summit, Jianning made her move. Dressed in a blazing red gown, she exposed Shen Jiayi as the mistress, revealed Gu Chen had plagiarized her business proposals (with heir Pei Zhan of the Four Great Families as her witness), and played surveillance footage of Shen instructing Zhang Ma to harm her unborn child. Finally, she dropped Gu Chen’s infertility diagnosis and the damning DNA report. The fallout was swift: Gu Chen was arrested for fraud and tax evasion; Shen Jiayi imprisoned for attempted murder. As for Jianning? She shed the shadows of her marriage, leading Qiyuan to new heights—a phoenix risen, ruthless and unshackled.
