The Stand-In Apartment

À propos de ce microdrame

Orphaned girl Shen Xin moves into a luxuriously furnished downtown apartment — with rent far below market price. Crystal chandeliers cast cold glimmers, and marble floors glow with an eerie sheen. This sudden "lucky break" is, in truth, an elaborately woven trap. She has no idea that Butler Chen, the apartment manager, and Dr. Lu, the community doctor who makes regular house calls, are both pawns sur a vast criminal syndicate. They target orphaned girls with no family ties. Through drug injections, hypnotic suggestion, and relentless psychological manipulation, they aim to remold these vulnerable young women into replacements for Lin Man — a missing wealthy heiress. Their endgame: horrifying consciousness transfer or organ harvesting. Life inside the apartment quickly turns into a nightmare for Shen Xin. A woman's anguished face appears in the bathroom mirror late at night. The bedroom lights flicker on and off. Faint whispers drift from deep inside the wardrobe. Hidden cameras watch her every move without mercy. Drugs erode her nerves. Psychological suggestions shatter her sense of self. She begins to murmur the name "Lin Man" in her sleep. When she looks in the mirror, she stares at her own reflection as if it belongs to a stranger. When Shen Xin finally gathers the courage to run, a figure blocks her path — Li Yang, her mysterious neighbor across the hall. Sometimes he helps her evade Butler Chen's patrols. Other times, he reveals clues that link him to the syndicate. Trust and betrayal tear at her mind again and again. Struggling through mountains of lies, she realizes she can trust no one around her.
